There’s Nothing Cheesy About This Fathers Day Idea!

June 16th is when we will be celebrating Daddies, Dads and Fathers. Yes, it won’t be long before it’s Fathers day in the UK. Have you thought of anything yet? Well perhaps our idea may seem a little strange at first but we really think it will be appreciated. Especially if a lovely bottle of wine is made part of the prezzy.

Our suggestions for this years Fathers day comes from Pong Cheese, they specialise in the best cheeses from around the world. They say that…

In the UK, cheese is consumed by more than 98% of British households and the average person eats about 10kg per year! Sounds a lot doesn’t it, but the French, Italians, Greeks and Germans eat over twice as much cheese per day because they eat on more occasions e.g. breakfast.

So is our idea a bit strange? Of course not! It could be the best present you have ever bought…

Here are our three cheese choices for Fathers Day

  • The Oxford Isis is in great form at the moment. A glorious sweet, washed-rind cheese that gets its great taste and colour from being washed in honey mead.
  • Bath Blue is a distinctly creamy blue; once tasted it usually becomes a favourite.
  • Swaledale Old Peculiar is the classic mellow Swaledale with a few drops of beer added  to the curd for a unique taste.
  • Banon Vache de Chalais is a stunning, earthy cow’s milk cheese wrapped in chestnut leaves.
  • Pong’s Perfect Biscuits For Cheese selection is basically cheese biscuit heaven.

  • Cropwell Bishop Stilton is quite simply the creamiest and best Stilton; phenomenal on baguette and great with condiments.
  • Westcombe Cheddar is one of the 3 Artisan Somerset Cheddars alongside Keen’s and Montgomery’s and is of course strong and tasty.
  • Our AOC Camembert has been afineured by Jacques Hennart and therefore is far superior to most with the same name: soft, pungent and creamy, its a fantastic tasting cheese.
  • Finally the Bosworth Ash log is a beautfiful artisan goat’s cheese with a gorgeous soft paste with hints of lemon and rosemary.

  • Langres AOC is a complex and sophisticated cheese from Champagne
  • The now legendary and much acclaimed Stinking Bishop.
  • Ragstone Log, also from the Neal’s Yard Dairy is a stylish and smooth goat’s cheese.

Which one is your favourite? Will you be considering cheese for Fathers Day?
