The Mother’s Day selection: Quiche Lorraine – simple enough even for Dad’s!

quiche lorraine

Mothers, please grab your husband and sit him in front of the computer (or what ever device you are using to read this).  Give him a pen and paper and about 10 minutes. You can now leave him to it…

Dad’s, are you ready for Mother’s day? Well we are here to help. We have for you a nice and simple recipe that we know will go down a treat. You can let your kids do most of the work so they can present their mum with something they have made (if you are willing to let them take all the credit!). An oven and a frying pan is involved , might be an idea for you take over at those points – depending on their ability and your own confidence.

A Quiche Lorraine is quite straight forward. Seems simple enough but can be made something special if served with a dressed salad for example.

What you need to create a Quiche Lorraine

  • Lardons –  like bacon only chopped up in to small pieces. Use ‘smoked’ if you can find it
  • In the video below, pastry is created from scratch. Gentlemen, you will be pleased to know that you can buy ready rolled pastry in supermarkets. Won’t be as nice but it depends on available skills and confidence.
  • 3 eggs
  • Creme fraiche
  • Gruyère cheese, good alternative is strong cheddar cheese
  • Freshly ground pepper

Now make a note of the above, grab the kids and go shopping! I am sure Mum will appreciate the peace and quiet for a while…

The video, featuring the Hairy Bikers,  shows you how to put it all together. Best of luck gentlemen and kids!
