Steak – marinating and cooking

steakA nice juicy piece of steak is delicious especially if you are going to marinate it before cooking. However, have you ever cooked your steak and ended up with a piece of cardboard by mistake?! Or the other extreme of serving it up and it’s still practially raw inside? Everyone has their own preference when it comes to how they want their steak done – rare, medium/rare, medium, medium/well or well done. So how do you know when each level of cooking has been reached? The following video from Gordon Ramsay shows you how to test your steak while it’s cooking.

How about a┬árecipe for marinating your steak if you fancy something a little different to what Gordon Ramsay showed us? The following idea sounds delicious…

  • 60ml olive oil
  • 60ml balsamic vinegar

  • 60ml Worcestershire sauce

  • 60ml soy sauce

  • 10ml Dijon mustard

  • 6g minced garlic

  • salt and pepper to taste

Mix olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, and garlic in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Marinate your steaks for two hours to get the best flavour.

The video was very interesting. When I grill steaks everyone wants theirs cooked differently.
