Sangria: The Ideal Party Drink For Friends Family And Summer!

Summer for many is a chilled glass of Sangria. Small chunks of fruit with red wine, sugar (or something else sweet like honey) and something to boost the alcohol content, like gin or brandy. Lounging around on the patio with a full glass is what summertime is all about!

You can serve the Spanish drink in any glass you like really. As long as it’s big enough to hold some of the fruit as well. Serving is best done in a large pitcher with a pinched spout. That helps to keep the fruit back. However, some like to serve it from a large container and use a ladle, rather like punch.

A small side note, did you know that the word Sangria is named after the Spanish and Portuguese word for “blood”? Typically the drink is a dark-red color, as red wine is often the main ingredient. Another thing you might not know, the recipe for Sangria is at least 2,000 years old!

How do you make a great Sangria? I’ve found three great recipes for you to check out. The first is a nice and relaxed way of making it. The others are rather enthusiastic with their recipes. One uses a gallon of white wine and the other tries to use as many fruit as possible!
