Paul Hollywood’s Baked Somerset Brie – For Valentine’s Day

brie-cheese

Yesterday on Facebook, Paul Hollywood posted his Baked Somerset Brie recipe and suggested how good it would be for Valentine’s day. At first it might not seem totally appropriate but there’s more to it than the the recipe title gives.

For starters, the cheese is wrapped in Parma ham. Cranberry sauce is spread on the enriched bread dough and the wrapped cheese placed on top. The whole thing is then baked in the oven. The recipe comes from his book – British Baking – which can be found on Amazon UK. Thinking of giving it a go? Then get your ingredients together!

What you will need for Paul Hollywood’s Baked Somerset Brie

Enriched Bread Dough

  • 250g strong white bread flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 7g sachet instant yeast
  • 50g unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 medium egg, lightly beaten, plus an extra egg to glaze
  • 135ml warm full-fat milk

Filling

  • 180g Parma han (or British air-dried ham)
  • 2 tbsp cranberry sauce
  • 1 whole Somerset or Cornish Brie (about 500g)

As a cheese lover (as is my other half), I think this recipe would be a wonderful thing to share in the candlelight…
