Did you know that January 8th marks Nation English Toffee Day? We all love toffee and it’s various incarnations, and it’s really easy to make! I did a little digging and I found a nice and easy recipe from an English blog – A Touch Of Sugar…

How to Make Toffee!

This homemade toffee recipe is so simple and tastes ludicrously good! Toffee is great on its own or as an addition to ice cream or covered in chocolate to create a Daim bar/Almond Roca bar and is far cheaper than buying it from a store.

The ingredients you need for the Touch Of Sugar toffee recipe

  • 450g (2 Cups) Butter
  • 470g (2 and 2/3 Cups) Sugar
  • 80 ml (1/3 Cups) Water
  • 82g (1/4 Cup) Golden syrup – Corn Syrup can be used as an alternative to golden syrup.

As I understand it, you can make black toffee by substituting golden syrup for black treacle. This version is very popular around Bonfire Night.

This video from AllRecipes UK shows you the making of toffee and the addition of chocolate.
