Masterchef, John Torode And That Other One…

As Masterchef is back on the telly again, I thought it was time to take a take a look at co-presenter Gregg Wallace. We all know he loves his puddings – I like it when John Torode looks as a dessert with a worried face and Gregg says, ‘Man up and grab a spoon!‘.

Gregg is a restaurateur and expert on all things pudding wise. He left school at 14 and started his career as a greengrocer at the New Covent Garden market. From there he created his multi-million pound fruit and veg business a decade later. After a star slot on BBC VEG TALK, an award-winning television programme followed in 2005 with the chance to front Masterchef, a show that has drawn in over 4.5 million viewers and produced some of the nation’s best up-and-coming chefs. He has opened two restaurants, Wallace & Co and Gregg’s Table, written various cookery books and written for the national and trade press.

Not everything is going well though, the Mirror Newspaper recently reported that his range of companies have suffered badly from economic pressures, Masterchef host Gregg Wallace’s restaurant goes bust with £300,000 debts.

As already mentioned, Gregg has written a few books which thankfully are available from Amazon UK…

If you are in the UK and have missed a few episodes of Masterchef then you can catch up with the BBC iPlayer.
