Refreshing And Healthy Strawberry Lemonade Smoothie

It’s like a burst of fresh air has blown through our home! I love spring and it’s coming in beautifully now. The windows are open, the days are warm and I’m able to get my flips flops out, and I’m trying to get outside as much as I can. I love bringing Hazel (my youngest daughter) outside with me for walks, and have recently taken up running (again). After running for about 30 minutes I’m hands down famished, and am always looking for a delicious treat to help bounce back after a long work out, and I think this may be my new favourite post-workout reward!

Strawberries are HUGE right now – they really tell you that summer is on its way, and that’s where the idea for this delicious smoothie came from!

Strawberry Lemonade Smoothie

The Ingredients:
Serves 1

  • 1 cup frozen, unsweetened strawberries
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon (about 1 1/2 tbsp)
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/3 cup fat-free vanilla yogurt
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1 tbsp natural honey
  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2/3 cup ice
  • 1 scoop of protein powder (optional)

Directions:

  1. Add everything to a blender, mix and serve cold.
  2. Top with cacao nibs if you wish and enjoy!

Strawberry Lemonade Smoothie

Such an easy treat, and perfect for kids as well (when I make this for my two older girls I omit the protein powder). It has that perfect lemon flavour with out the added sugar of actual lemonade. What do you like in your smoothie?
