Happiness Is A Hot Bowl Of Soup On A Chilly Day

bowl of soup

In my part of the world, the mornings are getting colder and afternoon temperatures are getting lower. It’s the time of year when I start turning to soups to keeps me warm, especially after I’ve been on a long bike ride.

The beauty of soups is that they can range from the simple to the complicated. You can use the finest ingredients or whatever you have left in the cupboards. However, the best ones are those that use seasonal veggies and fill you up just when you need it!

I’ve selected five great recipes for you to checkout. From the simple ‘Easy Roasted Pumpkin Soup‘ to the slightly more adventurous ‘Turmeric Ginger Red Lentil Soup‘, I’m sure you will love them all and will inspire you to create something of your own this week.

Italian Chicken Orzo Soup – A Spicy Perspective

Ultra cozy Italian Chicken Orzo Soup offers the appeal of classic chicken noodle… Chicken, pasta, onions, celery, and carrots. However, it has a bolder herbaceous flavor from the generous addition of garlic, dried Italian Herb Seasoning, and fresh basil leaves.

Turkey Sausage, Kale and Sweet Potato Soup – Cooking Classy

I love that this soup uses both kale and sweet potatoes, it’s the perfect fall combo. And the sausage just makes things fast since it’s pre-cooked and it keeps this soup hearty (you can also use beef/pork sausage here too).

Easy Roasted Pumpkin Soup (Blender) – Homemade And Yummy

Soup is always such a great Fall food. With so many wonderful ingredients to choose from, you can make soup all season long and not have to worry about running out of variety. This Easy Roasted Pumpkin Soup is a favourite around here. Seriously it doesn’t get easier than this. Made in the blender, you can have fresh soup on the table in no time. This is perfect if you have never attempted homemade soup before. You will be amazed how easy it is.

Roast pepper and tomato soup – Daisies And Pie

A delicious warming, comforting soup made with roasted peppers and tomatoes for a mouthwatering smoky sweet taste. The gently spiced hit from the fennel seeds really makes this soup something special. This tasty soup is perfect for cold autumn days served with doorstep sandwiches with thickly sliced cheese.

Turmeric Ginger Red Lentil Soup – Unicorns In The Kitchen

This turmeric ginger red lentil soup, which is one our favorite soups, is full of great flavors and has a nice, smooth texture. I used red lentils which you can get from any super market, they are very delicate and soften very well while cooking. I didn’t blend this turmeric ginger soup after cooking but you can of course blend it if you want an even smoother soup. Just a tiny note: a small amount of turmeric goes a long way so you want to make sure you don’t overuse it – otherwise the dish will be overpowering.
